Overview:
Pioneer's AVIC-D2 is Pioneer's newest navigation system, designed to be easy to use as well as easy on the eyes. The large 6.5-inch display panel is easy to read, the touch panel provides intuitive operation, and the layout delivers user-friendly operation by positioning the basic control keys around the screen for easy reach. The unit is designed to fit into many modern vehicles with a "factory-fit" style, melding unobtrusively into the vehicle dashboard. Of course, the AVIC-D2 provides a full media experience with AM/FM radio, CD, MP3 and WMA, and more. Additionally, the system is ready to deliver detailed traffic information for major cities in conjunction with the XM NavTraffic service and an optional XM Radio tuner.

Easy, accurate navigation
Taking a trip? Slide one of the two included map DVD-ROMs into the slot, then use the touch screen controls to enter your destination. You can input a specific street address, an intersection, or choose from the nearly 11 million points of interest, which include hotels, restaurants, and gas stations.

The screen displays the map of your current location, and indicates your next move. Meanwhile, voice prompts delivered over your vehicle's speakers warn you of upcoming turns. If you miss a turn, the system will recalculate your route automatically. The DVD-ROM discs include all navigation maps. And the AVIC-D2 features two disc slots: one for the map, and one for CDs. When you're navigating, you won't have to take the map disc out to enjoy your CDs, MP3s, and WMAs.

Hey what about entertainment?
The 'D2 plays your standard CDs, plus your MP3s and WMAs music files on disc. It also lets you hook up an extra source, like a DVD player or game console, to its audio/video input, so you can watch video while you're parked. Add Pioneer's iPod® interface adapter, and you can control your iPod using the 'D2's touch screen — or hook up a compatible satellite radio and subscribe to either XM or SIRIUS for the best radio entertainment around.

Add a rear-view camera to the mix, and you can have the AVIC-D2's screen show you what's behind you when you put the car in reverse. This is particularly useful if you drive a large SUV, or are towing something.

The strong internal amplifier provides full, rich sound. Use the interactive touch screen to adjust the extensive tone controls, and you can tailor the sound around your vehicle's natural acoustics.

XM NavTraffic
Add a compatible XM satellite radio, and you can subscribe to XM innovative NavTraffic™ service. You'll see continuously-updated traffic information along your programmed route displayed on the 'D2's screen, including traffic accident alerts, road closure info, and the average speed of traffic. You'll be prepared for traffic snags well in advance, and can adjust your route accordingly. NavTraffic is available in select metropolitan areas; check the NavTraffic radio for more info.

Roadside Assistance
The Roadside Assistance package lets you access local emergency contact information by pressing a single button. The screen also shows you exactly where you are, including latitude and longitude readings, so you'll be able to direct emergency personnel. And Pioneer includes an offer for a year's worth of free roadside assistance service from a national auto club.
